How to Send an Intro Message

Intro Messages let you send a short note to someone you like — giving you a better chance of standing out and getting a match. Here's how to use them.

What is an Intro Message?

An Intro Message is a short message (up to 400 characters) sent together with a Like. It's visible to the recipient before they decide to Like you back, so it's a great way to make a first impression.

A few things to know before you start:

  • An Intro Message is always sent with a Like — it cannot be sent on its own
  • Sending an Intro Message uses one of your Intro Message allowances
  • You can always send a regular Like without an Intro Message

Where you can send Intro Messages

You can send an Intro Message when liking a profile from:

  • Discover
  • Recommended

How to send an Intro Message

  1. Find a profile you like in Discover or Recommended
  2. Tap the Send Intro button (shown next to the Dislike and Like buttons)
  3. Type your message — up to 400 characters
  4. Tap Send

That's it! Your Intro Message and Like are sent together.

Don't want to send a message? Tap "Send a like only" to skip the Intro Message and send just a Like. You can also close the dialog by tapping outside it.

First-time Like

If you are a new user sending your very first Like, or an existing user starting a fresh session on a device for the first time, tapping the Like button will also open the Intro Message dialog. This is a one-time prompt to let you know you have the option to include a message with your Like.

How many Intro Messages can I send?

  • Basic (Free) users: 3 Intro Messages every 7 days
  • Premium users: 20 Intro Messages every 7 days

Allowances reset on a rolling 7-day basis. If your allowance runs out, you can still send regular Likes — you just won't be able to include an Intro Message until your allowance resets.

If you run out of Intro Messages:

  • Basic users will see a prompt to upgrade to Premium
  • Premium users will see a message explaining when their allowance will next reset
